i am coming back to gainesville tomorrow; i miss the city terribly!

today, i ate christmas dinner with about 14 members of my dad's side of the family. decidedly not in the mood to cause a scene and explain veganism to over a dozen irish/italian catholic megaconservatives, i picked at some of the side dishes (which were vegetarian, but definitely un-vegan) and awkwardly pushed the meat around on my plate for awhile. let me tell you, my stomach is NOT HAPPY with my consumption of dairy products. oof.

my parents gave me a sewing machine! i'm extremely excited; i've been wanting to make my own clothing for quite some time but i've never had the means. i'm hitting up some fabric stores upon my return.

everyone sort of knows that i've never been a fan of christmas, but i hope everyone had a nice day today, regardless.

I've been wearing my new glasses all the time lately since my left contact lens was drunkenly destroyed last week and I have yet to order new contact lenses. I was stuck with just one of them for a few days there, which was interesting considering that I'm fuckin' blind without vision correction.

Anyhow, the point is that if one more person tells me that I look like Lisa Loeb, bitches are gonna get punched.

Also, I still haven't found Dick Winzie.

MY KITTEN IS MISSING.

He is solid black and adorable. His name is Dick Winzie. He is about four months old.

He should be somewhere around SW 2nd Ave and 12th St.

I'm pretty much addicted to spinach + Krishna lunch salad dressing (I made some! JEALOUS??)

My hair was pretty bright red for like a day - the day before Thanksgiving - and now it's basically the same color that it was. Red hair dye fades too fuckin' fast.

My carbon monoxide detector woke me up the other day. Granted, it was like 12:30pm and I didn't really need to be sleeping anymore. Still, pretty goddamn terrifying. Some weird gas stove leakage bullshit. I had to call the fire department and everything. It's all fixed and my apartment is apparently safe now, but it still sorta freaks me out. I guess it's good that I haven't been spending much time here lately.

I'm going back to school next semester. 12 credit hours, all on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Two 4000-level linguistics classes, some random anthro class, and Wildlife Issues. Doable. I think.



P.S. Fading hair dye and carbon monoxide death threats aside, I'm really really really really really happy.

I got a new iPod and her name is Petunia.

david and i are vegan now. it hasn't been hard considering that i don't like cheese. it's been four days and i'm doin' just fine. there are lots of places where i can eat vegan in gainesville, and i can cook pretty well. the hardest part is not eating the cookies we bake at work, because goddamn, those cookies are delicious.

my ipod was stolen and my quality of life has deteriorated as a result. i need to get a new one :(

i have been putting together several songs lately but i can't write lyrics.

i don't know why i'm updating my livejournal right now. it just seemed like it was time. it's 6:07 in the morning and now i'm going to bed.

i have a kitten now and his name is dick winzie.

Employment:

- I work at the Pita Pit on University now. It's quite fun and the money is surprisingly not bad. I am working every day except for Friday this week. Come visit sometime. I work tomorrow (Monday) from 10:30 until 5. I'm thinking about going back to working at CT again, also, for bux-saving purposes since I'm leaving school.

- I have a crush on a girl. Like, a real crush, not an "I-acknowledge-your-attractiveness-in-a-heterosexual-manner" crush. You know, the kind that I normally get on boys. Everyone knows that I like to complicate my life as much as possible; why stop now? Awhile back, I'd probably make an LOL@COLLEGE comment about something like this, but now I'm not in college, so LOL@BEINGASEXUALLYCONFUSEDTWENTYSOMETHING.

General Petty Whining:

- I've been drinking too much, which leads to eating too much, and I've gained back seven of the pounds I lost as a result. I feel huge again, even though I'm still at least 15 pounds smaller than my high weight this past spring. I hate it a lot. Time to regain a bit of control.

- I'm sleep-deprived.

- I've noticed that I'm a social floater. I have lots of acquaintances and there are many people whose company I quite enjoy, but I don't really have a core group of friends. I "float." I went to an awful party on Saturday night; I was there for about an hour. Most of my time at said party was spent wandering around the backyard by myself, beer and cigarette in hand, contemplating why the fuck I was there, what the fuck I'm doing in this town, and how the fuck all the people surrounding me grew so attached to their respective core friends groups. I probably would have felt differently if Aja were there. I really, really, really don't know what I would have done with myself over these past couple of months if it weren't for her.

My little sister is coming up at noon today. She will be here the whole weekend. She's helping me move and I'm taking her to parties and getting her drunk (she's going to be 18 in October; she can handle it). I'm pretty excited about it. She needs to come out of her shell a bit.

Please help me move. I have two days to get everything done, and I have to paint my new apartment and move all of my furniture and possessions from my current place to my new place. I will probably buy you lunch/beer if you take a carload of my odds and ends to my new apartment.
